International software company Abacus America founded Aplus.Net way back in 1992. Although Aplus was originally established as a domain name registrar, today it is one of the world’s top internet solutions providers following its move into web hosting in 1998.

In 2006, the company was bought by Gabriel Murphy, a property and technology investor. The acquisition by Murphy has helped to cement Aplus.net’s position in the hosting industry. The company’s revenue for 2007 was a very wealthy $32 million – a doubling of its profit since 2003. The company’s new headquarters are in Murphy’s hometown of Overland Park, Kansas (not far from Kansas City) having moved from San Diego California in 2007. Nearly one third of the company’s 300 employees are based in the new state-of-the-art offices in Overland Park, including its sales, technical support and customer service departments. The building also acts as one of Aplus.net’s data storage facilities. A second data center was opened in the spring of 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona. This new facility has 12 staff members looking after some 2,600 servers. Aplus.Net’s European office is in Sofia, Bulgaria. This office takes care of sales, billing, web design and technical support for its non-US based customers.

Today Aplus.net has around 200,000 customers worldwide, has registered more that 500,000 domain names and hosts some 110,000 websites.

Aplus.Net has been awarded many accolades, including the CNET Editors' Choice Award. For more than four years the company has featured on Tophosts.com’s ‘Top 5’ list. Its success has also lead Aplus.net to feature in several business publications including Forbes, Entrepreneur, Black Enterprise and PC Magazine.
