I feel fortunate enough to start with Hostgator as a newbie in website hosting. They have a constant uptime and 24/7 support. Their customer support is excellent, and I would give them 5 stars for it. All my tickets were answered within a few hours. Once I had trouble with installing a PHP website; so I contacted their support on live chat and their support representative was more than eager to help me out with the install. They also email the chat transcript, so that I can refer to it later on when I face similar issue.

Hostgator gives me a great value for my investment. I can host unlimited websites at $7.95 which is really great. Although, you can find a cheaper host, but you get what you pay. They also offer unlimited email accounts and unlimited hosting space + bandwidth. They also have various plans for users with all levels of technical ability. Although I never used their free website templates, I think it is a great feature for any newbie wanting to start their own website. They also support PHP and Ruby on Rails, which makes it attractive for advanced webmasters.

I am so content with the quality of their product that I am planning to use their reseller package sometime in the future.
